#41: age of callous half hearted indifference

remembering the fears that rocked
and shook him in his silence
he hoarsely mumbled at the cupboard
seeing nothing on the shelf
coughing up a hunger pang
fumbling through his pocket

selfish and uptight bush one screwing people over
closing down social programs
hordes of homeless without recourse
peeing in the street

age of callous half hearted indifference

acting with humanity a silly and surreal idea
no important person practiced
corporados jockeying for titles and positions
in flurries of worry scurried about
all of these shiftless prune faced republicans
protected by a bitchslap book of regulations

dominating everything the hollow
defenders of family values
stuffed shirt right wing radicals
tuned into the zeitgeist deeply
harvesting the couch potato
plopping in each satellite dish
fascist macho jingoist worldviews
truths all distorted and truth tellings ugly
oh say can you see via cable tv

age of callous half hearted indifference
