on some days i almost wake up
drowned in salty reverie
like a sailor shipwrecked in
a sea of untoward dreams
re-enacting henry hudsons
oceangoing chariot slightly
whirling twirling round and round
i'm swept aboard
holding up a sextant
by the topsail i am measuring
concepts once believed to be
lost or else unknowable
dangerous unspoken yearnings
underlying most ambitions
blowing up and all around
these grimy hands are grumbling
they disobey commands
as it seems the decks are ugly
piles of absurdity
a never ending cavalcade of
sailors jumping ship
shadowed by godzilla monster
sharks from here to shores unnamed
fearful and unsure flipping out a little
henry hoohahs made of twilight
claiming he will do no more
railing against neptune
buffeted by wind and rain
rattled by recrimination fog horns blasting
indecisive patterns in my brain
Download the song, "Like Paul Gauguin" - paul gauguin in ze 21st century- he came back - stuck his head in a long island diner - the door shut real fast and his head was crushed - it fell off his body completely - he looked up and said something in French i couldn't understand i found oot later all he said was "what am i doing on long island?"
