for George Grosz
the moonbeam flavored essence of him
traipsing alley ways by night …
poking at the embers of an obscure
and miraculous way of being.
secretly luxuriating in his pinpoint accuracy,
grosz would play with universal truths.
they'd come unraveled somewhere
in the deepest darkest pits he could find …
he grasped the zeitgeist by the throat.
in loop-deloops out on a ledge,
his predilections picked apart and dramatized brutal things.
absolutely capturing the discontent and restlessness,
the poverty and chaos in the cities of those days,
grosz with an incisive wit and prescience … foretold.
