wriggles out a complicated
portrait of himself

rending from his notebook pages
art boy somewhat redolent
coming off indignant
fauxbrow poet and musician

puttering in his mercilessly understated way
on the edge of anywhere
a weird invisible studio

where dionysus pokes around
and keeps him on his toes

cognizant of all the crackers
bugging out his private way
fervent at a concertina
in the shadows
